“Happy Ever After” Valentine’s Dinner

A great date night for couples who are married or dating. The $25.00/couple ticket price includes a catered dinner, along with some great teaching on communication that will hopefully lead to true intimacy in your marriage. This event will take place on Sunday, February 12, at 6:00 pm, in the Cedar Creek Banks Mill Gym and Worship Center. Child care will be provided by reservation at a cost of $2.00 per child (includes meal), no more than $10.00 per family for child care. Tickets are available during the week at the Cedar Creek Banks Mill office, 3001 Banks Mill Road, or at the statue side Welcome Center on Sunday morning. The deadline to purchase tickets is Sunday, February 5, and there will be a waiting list after that. New Facility Update

Our West Campus had over 700 people attend their first worship service at the new Aiken Family Y on Sunday, January 15. Wow! They plan to start having two services on Sunday, February 19, to make room for the many new folks who are finding their way back to God. At the same time, our Ridge Campus continues to grow and has some facility needs. We have developed a plan for Ridge office/classroom space, as well as an enclosure to the front porch area to make better welcome space for guest services, with an estimated cost of $150,000.00. We would like to begin this project soon, so we are asking all who callCedarCreekChurch home to give over and above their normal offerings for the next four weeks to fund this project. No building campaign, no pledge cards, no brochures – just a “see a need, meet a need” opportunity. Our people were so generous to give over $80,000.00 in a single offering to provide clean water, and I believe our people will continue that generosity to help provide the funds for the Ridge. There is no need to designate your gift – just pray and ask God what He would have you give to helpCedarCreekChurch continue to help people find their way back to God. Disciple Now Student Retreat NEWS

Happenings Students

The Disciple Now Student Retreat is a local weekend retreat where students in grades 6-12 gather for worship and experience small group discipleship while staying in local homes. The event is January 27-29. Visit www.disciplenow2012.com for information and to register. The whole church and community can help our students with the Disciple Now Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, January 28, by collecting items for Christ Central Aiken. The items needed and instructions are given below.

DiscipleNOW Student Scavenger Hunt

As a part of DiscipleNOW weekend, on January 28th students at all campuses of Cedar Creek Church will be taking part in a scavenger hunt to benefit Christ

Central in Aiken and the surrounding areas. Students will be collecting the following items from 1:30pm – 4:00pm that afternoon. If students do not visit your

house, we ask that you bring your items to Cedar Creek Church – Banks Mill Campus between 5:00pm and 6:00pm on that Saturday.

On The Ridge Campus Only: Please bring any items students do not pick up to your campus on Sunday morning.

Please consider having items available for the students to help them with their hunt and to partner with Christ Central as they minister to our community.

The following items are needed:

Electric Heaters (New or Used)

Laundry Detergent

Toilet Paper

Diapers

Baby Wipes

Blankets or Comforters

Deodorant

Canned Meats (Spaghetti-Os, sauce, tuna, etc.)

Peanut Butter

West Campus News

This Sunday, January 15, marks a milestone for Cedar Creek Church! After a long journey, the West campus will be holding their first service at the new Aiken Family Y. And that has EVERYTHING to do with your generosity and obedience to BE the mission of this church by helping people find their way back to God! Thank you for all that you did to make this possible! CENTERPOINT Sunday Morning reWind (1/8/2012)

BE WEIRD.

What? Be Weird? But I don’t want to be weird! I don’t want people looking at me funny, thinking I’m odd, or talking about me behind my back! I want to fit in, I want to be normal!!

That’s probably what you’re thinking – its what I used to think too! Then I realized something – normal isn’t working! Students who are normal are students who are overwhelmed with schoolwork and activities, emotional wrecks because of relationships, fighting with their parents, always striving for more stuff, recognition, and acclaim, and are quietly leading themselves down a path of destruction.

A path of destruction? That’s kinda harsh right? Well, its what Jesus said! Check out Matthew 7:13:14:

¹³ “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. ¹⁴ But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Jesus said that the path everyone else is following, the normal path, is actually the wrong way! The truth is, the path that God wants you to take is the weird path. Its the path that most people aren’t going down. It’s a tough path, a hard road, but its one that leads to life instead of destruction.

This year choose to be weird! Choose to follow God’s Word instead of the crowd. When two choices are in front of you, and one is hard because no one else is doing it even though its the right thing to do, go that way, and God will reward you!
