Okay, I have to admit that launching a nine-week church-wide emphasis on finances was a risky and scary thing for me as a pastor. I wasn’t sure how you guys would respond to spending this much time and energy dealing with such a sensitive and emotional topic. In the weeks leading up to our kickoff, I spent a lot of sleepless nights hoping and praying that we were making the right decision. And, as usual, God and the people of Cedar Creek far exceeded my expectations.
Momentum has gotten off to a great start. After an amazing Kick-Off Sunday with Rachel Ramsey Cruze, we had around a thousand adults (in spite of the 2014 Blizzard) attend week one of Financial Peace University, either in their Home Group or at one of the classes we are offering at our three campuses.
Because this is truly a church-wide emphasis, I’m excited to let you know that our Centerpoint students (6th – 12th Grade) are going through their version of FPU called Generation Change, and in March, Kidz Creek will begin their Momentum curriculum. Can you imagine the difference learning and living these principles will make in their lives? As I’ve said many times, what God is going to do in and through our church during Momentum is going to have an impact on our lives and our families for years to come!
If you’ve not yet gotten on the Momentum bandwagon, I want to encourage you to be “all-in” with us on this exciting journey! There are three ways for you to be a part of Momentum. First, be a part of the Sunday morning services at your campus between now and March 30th. Second, get plugged into FPU through a Home Group or class. Even if you’ve missed the first week, it’s not too late. You can easily catch up. Third, be a part of the MO-Prayer campaign by sharing your prayer request and praises on the Mo-Prayer Wall at your campus or e-mail them directly to firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also participate in Mo-Prayer 9-9-9 by joining with other Cedar Creekers to pray for nine minutes at 9 p.m. each Sunday during nine-weeks of Momentum.
God is moving in our church! As He brings more financial peace and freedom to more of His people, we can leverage that freedom to impact our communities and the world. I believe that we will truly see what the people of God can do for the Kingdom of God when they’re financially free.
Much love and excitement,
