FPU Weather Update

Hello Cedar Creek West!

Due to the forecast for winter weather, we will not have FPU at CCW on Wednesday.

FPU is scheduled to happen tonight (Tuesday) and Thursday at 6:30 as scheduled.

If you plan to attend a make-up session, please contact Kevin at or 392-7053 along with the ages of any children requiring childcare during the session.

The homework for session 3 includes:

1.  Cash flow planning with your spouse or accountability partner (if single). Don’t forget to bring your zero-based budget back to class for session 4. Don’t worry about us looking at all your budget numbers. The only number we’ll be looking for is the zero at the bottom!  If you need extra copies of the forms, you can find them here:

2.  Each campus will have a drawing for a fabulous prize for each person that shares their budget with a member of the finance team for review. If you’d like to bring in a hard copy next session that’s fine (we will deliver them in a sealed envelope to a team member) or if you’d like to email it to a finance team member directly, here’s their email addresses:

John Travis

Don Nesbitt

Mark Chostner

Andrea Graham

Joel Stewart

Keila Burkhart

Dane Burkhart

Jason Cumbee

Ed Stevens

If you’d like an online tool to create your budget sheets, Dave Ramsey provides the “lite” version for free. You can print them out as well…

Have a great day and stay safe!

Momentum Update

Okay, I have to admit that launching a nine-week church-wide emphasis on finances was a risky and scary thing for me as a pastor.  I wasn’t sure how you guys would respond to spending this much time and energy dealing with such a sensitive and emotional topic.  In the weeks leading up to our kickoff, I spent a lot of sleepless nights hoping and praying that we were making the right decision.  And, as usual, God and the people of Cedar Creek far exceeded my expectations.

Momentum has gotten off to a great start.  After an amazing Kick-Off Sunday with Rachel Ramsey Cruze, we had around a thousand adults (in spite of the 2014 Blizzard) attend week one of Financial Peace University, either in their Home Group or at one of the classes we are offering at our three campuses.

Because this is truly a church-wide emphasis, I’m excited to let you know that our Centerpoint students (6th – 12th Grade) are going through their version of FPU called Generation Change, and in March, Kidz Creek will begin their Momentum curriculum.  Can you imagine the difference learning and living these principles will make in their lives?  As I’ve said many times, what God is going to do in and through our church during Momentum is going to have an impact on our lives and our families for years to come!

If you’ve not yet gotten on the Momentum bandwagon, I want to encourage you to be “all-in” with us on this exciting journey!  There are three ways for you to be a part of Momentum.  First, be a part of the Sunday morning services at your campus between now and March 30th.  Second, get plugged into FPU through a Home Group or class.  Even if you’ve missed the first week, it’s not too late.  You can easily catch up.  Third, be a part of the MO-Prayer campaign by sharing your prayer request and praises on the Mo-Prayer Wall at your campus or e-mail them directly to  You can also participate in Mo-Prayer 9-9-9 by joining with other Cedar Creekers to pray for nine minutes at 9 p.m. each Sunday during nine-weeks of Momentum.

God is moving in our church!  As He brings more financial peace and freedom to more of His people, we can leverage that freedom to impact our communities and the world.  I believe that we will truly see what the people of God can do for the Kingdom of God when they’re financially free.

Much love and excitement,

Four Days and Counting

I can’t wait for this Sunday.  We’ve been talking about Momentum for several months and now it’s finally here.  While I’m very excited to have Rachel Ramsey Cruze as our guest speaker this weekend, I’m even more excited to see how God is going to use the next nine weeks to begin bringing hope, healing and peace to so many of us here at Cedar Creek and throughout our communities.

The two main questions I’ve been asked over these last few months are “What is Momentum?” and “Why are we doing it?”  Those are great questions.  For twenty years Cedar Creek Church has focused on providing practical Biblical teaching that people can use in their daily lives and on being a blessing to our community and the world.  Momentum allows us to bring both of those core values together.  Using Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University study, we can help teach people in simple and practical ways how to honor God with their finances and in doing so, we will be unleashing the generosity of Cedar Creeker’s to radically impact the lost and hurting people all around us for years to come.  Imagine what the people of God could do for the Kingdom of God if they were financially free.

The video below gives a great example of how the FPU principles can change lives and leave a legacy for generations.  I want everyone to be a part of this.  It doesn’t matter what age or season of life you’re in or what your current financial situation is, this stuff will impact your life.

That’s why I’m asking you to make three commitments for Momentum.  First, join us at one of our three campuses this Sunday (January 26th) for the kickoff service.  Second, begin praying that God would move in your life and in our community over these next nine weeks.  And third, get plugged into Home Group or FPU class at your campus to begin the road to financial freedom.

For more information, check out

See ya Sunday!
