Job Title: DivorceCare Group Facilitator (2 or 3 Needed)
Ministry: Care & Counseling, DivorceCare
Day(s) of the week: Thursdays
Time of Day: Evening
Time Commitment – typical # hours per month: 2.5 hours for each meeting – when group is in session which is two 13-week courses per year, Autumn and Winter-Spring.
Start Time: 6:30 (group runs until 8:00 or 8:15 latest).
Type – (individual or family-friendly): Individual/Couple
Brief Description: Volunteer helps to facilitate discussion within a peer-group of those who are separated/recently divorced. Discussion within the group follows a 30-minute lesson video. The facilitator is NOT expected to have answers, rather encourages the group to discuss perspectives on the weekly lesson. Training and best practice group facilitation tips will be provided to the volunteer.
Requirements: This position requires someone who has experienced divorce. Facilitating this group is a way to help others going through their version of this event. Ability to follow written instructions to operate TV, DVD, or computer for streaming video from a specific website.
Gifts/Skills Desired: Bonus if you have attended DivorceCare at any location. If you have not attended DivorceCare, counseling while separated or recently divorced is a good alternate. Well-developed interpersonal skills are desired, especially to be able to sit with participants who are in emotional pain.
